DESTINATION ATTRACTIONS

Vineyards and Wine Tasting

Enjoy Khao Yai wine tastings and tours at some of the finest vineyards and orchards in South East Asia. Two of our favourite Khao Yai vineyards are GranMonte Estate and Alcidini Winery. Both are part of a larger regional wine-tasting trail.
The rolling mountainous terrain, bright sun and cool temperatures of the Khao Yai region make it ideal for growing grapes. Popular varieties include round purple cabernet sauvignon, green viognier and chenin blanc, thick blue shiraz and syrah, and waxy skinned muscat blue.

GRANMONTE

GranMonte Estate is located in the Asoke Valley, adjacent Khao Yai National Park, and is known for its brilliant yellow flowers. The Thai-owned vineyard opened in 1999 on a former cashew plantation, and regularly wins awards in handfuls. The name – Gran Monte or ‘Great Mountain’ – is also a tribute to the national park’s name.

ALCIDINI

The boutique Alcidini Winery draws its name from the native kingfisher bird – the brilliant blue Alcedo. It opened in 2001, on a beautiful stretch of hills which draw sun in the day and cool breezes at night. The vineyard is home to Thailand’s only Lyre trellising system, and also grows avocados.
